Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5076 is located at 2180 Meridian Way in Garland, Texas. Our telephone number is 972-278-2858.

The VFW meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6pm following House Committee meeting. The Auxiliary meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm. Please come and join us.

We have a newly formed Men's Auxiliary. These men are not eligible for the VFW but can join the Men's Auxiliary under the same eligibility as the Ladies Auxiliary members. Please call the VFW for information.

Ladies Auxiliary Officer Bios

President Beverly Snow has been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary since 1972. She is currently serving her 7th term as an Auxiliary President and is a Past District President twice. She is currently serving as District 3 Jr. Vice President. Her symbol is the lighthouse. Her motto is "lighting the way to make EVERYDAY Veterans' Day". She takes the lighthouse from the gospel song where Jesus is the lighthouse.

Beverly is a widow of a Vietnam Veteran, Harry Walker, who died from complications of Agent Orange. He was honored at the Vietnam wall in Washington DC in 2004. She is now married to Dennis Snow, a 26 year Army veteran. She has 3 sons, 3 daughters in law and 7 grandchildren. She is very proud of her family and their lives.

MAP (Military Assistance Program)

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and its Ladies Auxiliary is proud to help our veterans who are now serving our country. We send packages overseas to various groups of the military. The Auxiliary averages sending 2 packages a week filled with various goodies for the troops.

We also have adopted the Garland Air National Guard unit in our area. We send food to serve at the Sunday family meeting at each Guard session. We are also in the process of helping them raise money to hold a welcome home party for the members of the unit who are returning from Iraq in October.

10 am Break into sessions for Training Seminar. Classes to be held include:

noon Break for lunch (sandwich/salad plate served at a minimal charge)

Cancer Aid and Research

National Ladies Auxiliary has been raising over $2.4 million dollars a year for the past few years for Cancer Aid and Research. The Department of Texas has raised over $150,000.

The main goal of our cancer program is to educate our members and their families. We need to make them aware of cancer grants as well as the early warning signals for cancer.

Providing grants to members with cancer, helping in the educational effort to make the public aware of the importance of early detection, and supporting research throughout the country are the activities involved in this program.

Celebrating our heritage of freedom with the Statue of Liberty's Birthday Celebration, working towards a resolution of the POW/MIA situation, promoting pride in America, and ensuring that the public will never forget the sacrifices of America's soldiers who protect our freedom.

Goals:

Buddy Poppy

"To honor the dead by helping the living"

This program supports one of the primary reasons for our existence; which is support of our members and assistant to the members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in their efforts to aid disabled, needy and aging veterans and their families.

Since the mid-1950s this has been a joint program between the Ladies Auxiliary and VFW. Buddy poppies are purchased through the VFW Department Headquarters. The little red poppies are made in VA facilitiesin five locations by hospitalized and disabled veterans who receive payment for making the poppy.

Auxiliary 5076 does not have a Jr. Girls unit but we support Unit 2494 in Irving.

Teaching the daughters and sisters of veterans about the sacrifices made for freedom, the debt we owe veterans, the importance of volunteering in the community, and helping others.

Veterans and Family Support
